Debt Advice...

Welcome to the Debt Advice section of the 'King's Community Church' Web Site.

When debts mount up there are a number of steps which you will need to follow in order for you to regain control of your situation. This section will give you some simple advice and steps to help in doing this.

The fact that you have taken the time to look at this section of our web site is a good starting point.

There are four steps which we would recommend that you follow:

Step 1 Work out what money you have coming in (Income) and how much you need to live on (Expenditure)

Step 2 Make a list of all the people you owe money to and how much

Step 3 Sort out which of these debts are a priority and how much you can afford to pay to these creditors

Step 4 Offer your other creditors a percentage of any further available income

Should you need support as you undertake this process please feel free to contact us via the contact page.

Before you start, there are some important things which you need to remember:

Always face your problems rather than ignore them and hope that they will go away.  Be honest about your debts and your circumstances.  Always keep the people to whom you owe money (your Creditors) informed of what is happening.  Make sure that any offer of payments that you make are realistic to what you can afford in your current situation.  Make payments regularly – not every now and then, even small payments are better than none.

If you find this confusing or just too much, please accept our apology and please don't worry.

We would highly recommend you contact:

The Citizens Advice Bureau in Braintree whose telephone number is 0870 126 4065

and which is based at Fountain Lodge, 2 St Michael’s Road, Braintree, CM7 1EX .

If you do not live in Braintree, you will need to check your local telephone directory for Money Advice Centres in your area or a local Citizens Advice Bureau which provides Debt Advice.
